Edmunds Pīlāgs is a Latvian sprinter who was born on 7 June, 1927. He is best known for his gold medal in the 4x400m relay at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He also won a bronze medal in the 400m at the same Olympics. Pīlāgs began his athletic career in 1945, competing in the Latvian Championships. He went on to win the Latvian Championships in the 400m in 1947, 1948, 1949, and 1950. He also won the Latvian Championships in the 200m in 1948 and 1949. Pīlāgs competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, where he won a gold medal in the 4x400m relay and a bronze medal in the 400m. He also competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, where he finished fourth in the 4x400m relay. Pīlāgs retired from competitive athletics in 1957.
