Edward Ścigała is a Polish weightlifter who was born on 20 February, 1926 in Piekary, Poland. He is best known for his Olympic gold medal in the featherweight division at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. He also won a silver medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy. Ścigała began his weightlifting career in 1945 and competed in the Polish National Championships from 1947 to 1960. He won the Polish National Championships in the featherweight division in 1947, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960. Ścigała was a member of the Polish National Weightlifting Team from 1947 to 1960. He competed in the World Championships in 1950, 1954, and 1958, and won a bronze medal in the featherweight division in 1954. Ścigała was inducted into the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame in 2000. As of 2021, Edward Ścigała's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
