Koch was the editor of Opium Magazine. She is the founder of Black Balloon Publishing and publisher Catapult; the latter was founded in September 2015. Koch is the co-founder and president of Tiny Blue Dot consciousness research foundation. She's the founder of New Balloon, a media company at the nexus of entertainment and technology that has executive produced films such as Beasts of No Nation (Netflix's first Golden Globe nominated feature film) and Last Days in the Desert.
