Estyn Griffiths was a Welsh professional footballer who played as a forward for Wrexham, Tranmere Rovers, and Chester City. He was born on 22 July 1927 in Pontblyddyn, Wales. Griffiths began his career with Wrexham in 1945, and went on to make over 200 appearances for the club. He scored a total of 81 goals for Wrexham, making him the club's all-time leading goalscorer. In 1952, he moved to Tranmere Rovers, where he scored a further 24 goals in just over 100 appearances. He then moved to Chester City in 1956, where he scored a further 11 goals in just over 50 appearances. Griffiths was a member of the Wales national team, making his debut in 1950 against Scotland. He went on to make a total of 11 appearances for Wales, scoring three goals. Griffiths retired from professional football in 1959, and went on to become a publican in his hometown of Pontblyddyn. He passed away on 28 April 2021, at the age of 96.
