F. C. Ogbalu is a Nigerian educator and administrator who has served in various capacities in the educational sector. He was born in Abagana, Njikoka, Anambra State, Nigeria on 20 July, 1927. He attended the University of Ibadan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1959. He also obtained a Master of Arts degree in English from the same university in 1962. Ogbalu began his career as a teacher in the Nigerian education system in 1959. He rose through the ranks to become the principal of the Government College, Umuahia in 1967. He was later appointed the Commissioner for Education in Imo State in 1976. He also served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1979 to 1983. Ogbalu has also served in various capacities in the Nigerian educational sector. He was the Chairman of the National Universities Commission from 1983 to 1985. He was also the Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education from 1985 to 1988. He was also the Chairman of the National Commission for Colleges of Education from 1988 to 1991. Ogbalu has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to the Nigerian educational sector. He was awarded the National Merit Award in 1988 and the Officer of the Order of the Niger in 1991. He was also awarded the Nigerian National Order of Merit in 1992.
