Fatima Aouam is a Moroccan middle-distance runner who was born on 16 December, 1959 in Morocco. She is best known for her gold medal in the 800m at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Aouam began her career in athletics in 1979, and quickly rose to prominence in the Moroccan athletics scene. She won the 800m at the African Championships in 1983, and went on to win the gold medal in the 800m at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She also won the 800m at the 1985 Mediterranean Games in Casablanca. Aouam retired from athletics in 1988, and has since become a coach and mentor to young athletes. She is currently the head coach of the Moroccan Athletics Federation. Aouam is 55 years old and has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
