In December 2018, Vindver and Timbaland were producing rap artists Saweetie and Lil Mosey, when Kanye West came to the studio. The following summer, Vindver, and West met again and bonded over their mutual Christian faith. His early experience playing gospel in Miami churches appealed to West, and they decided to work together on the latter's next album, Jesus Is King.
