Fiston Mwanza Mujila is a Congolese novelist and poet. He is best known for his debut novel, Tram 83, which was published in 2014 and has been translated into several languages. He has also published several collections of poetry, including The Great Book of the Dead (2015) and The Fire of Origins (2017). Mujila was born in 1981 in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo. He studied literature at the University of Lubumbashi and later worked as a journalist for the newspaper Le Phare. In 2014, he was awarded the Grand Prix littéraire d'Afrique noire for Tram 83. Mujila has been praised for his unique style of writing, which combines elements of African oral tradition with modern literary techniques. His work has been compared to that of Franz Kafka and James Joyce. Mujila currently lives in Graz, Austria, where he is a professor of African literature at the University of Graz. He is also a member of the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa.
