Frances Barber is an English actress who has appeared in numerous films, television shows, and stage productions. She is best known for her roles in the films Mona Lisa (1986), The Madness of King George (1994), and The History Boys (2006).
Barber was born in Wolverhampton, England, and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her stage debut in 1982 in the play The Country Wife at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. She has since appeared in numerous stage productions, including the West End production of The Seagull (1985) and the Royal National Theatre's production of The Cherry Orchard (1996).

On 4 April 2020, Owen Jones posted pictures of a couple of tweets sent by Frances accusing her of racism and calling for the Labour Party to reject her membership application. Barber counter-accused Owen Jones of "silencing women" and threatened him with a libel law suit. Barber falsely claimed that she never sent the tweets, and that it was "one of [Owen's] hateful mob pretending to be me". Multiple accounts then came forward with their own screenshots of the interaction, confirming that the incident took place.
On 13 December 2019, Barber tweeted "Trots won’t go til they’re shot" in reference to Jeremy Corbyn's continuing role as leader of the Labour party, causing some backlash. On 19 March 2020, Frances Barber tweeted "I think I could strangle him" in reference to Jeremy Corbyn. This tweet was later removed for breaking Twitter's policy.
Barber urged a vote for the Labour Party at the 2017 UK general election. Critical of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, she said "I will vote Labour holding my nose. Urge you too." In September 2017, she resigned from the party, saying: "I can't belong to a party full of Misogyny, Anti-Semitism and Thuggery".

They again performed the two plays in repertory at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane, opening in November 2007 and closing mid-January 2008.
