She is the daughter of novelist and screenwriter Jonathan Segal and the granddaughter of the late British Prime Minister Harold Wilson. Segal attended Oxford University, where she studied English Literature. She then went on to pursue a career in journalism, writing for publications such as The Guardian, The Times, The New Yorker, and The New York Times. Segal is the author of two novels, The Innocents (2012) and The Awkward Age (2018). The Innocents was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award and won the 2012 National Jewish Book Award for Fiction. The Awkward Age was longlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2019. Segal is married to the British actor and comedian David Mitchell. They have two children together. As of 2021, Francesca Segal's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
