Françoise Dehaipe was born in Buta, Democratic Republic of Congo, the daughter of a Congolese mother and a Belgian father. She grew up in Namur, Belgium and in Gitéga, Burundi. In 1995 she was signed to the Belgian label Hit Record owned by platinum record producers Patrick Cools and Stéphane Durand with whom she co-wrote and released the single "Weekend on the Move" (Polygram, R Play, Panic Records).
