Frank Carlucci is an American politician and diplomat who served as the United States Secretary of Defense from 1987 to 1989. He was born on October 18, 1930 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He attended Princeton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952. He then attended Harvard Law School, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1955. Carlucci began his career in the United States Navy, where he served from 1955 to 1957. He then joined the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served from 1957 to 1981. During his time at the CIA, he held various positions, including Deputy Director of the Office of Economic Research and Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget. In 1981, Carlucci was appointed Deputy Secretary of Defense by President Ronald Reagan. He served in this position until 1983, when he was appointed National Security Advisor. He held this position until 1986, when he was appointed Secretary of Defense. He served in this position until 1989. After leaving the government, Carlucci served as Chairman of the Carlyle Group from 1989 to 2005. He also served as Chairman of Nortel Networks from 2001 to 2004. As of 2021, Frank Carlucci's net worth is estimated to be roughly $20 million.
