Fred Macaulay is a Scottish radio producer and presenter. He was born on 1 January 1925 in Sollas, North Uist, Scotland. He is best known for his long-running BBC Radio Scotland show, Macaulay and Co. Macaulay began his career in radio in the 1950s, working for the BBC in Scotland. He was the first presenter of the BBC's flagship radio show, The Archers, and was the first presenter of the BBC's long-running radio show, Macaulay and Co. Macaulay has been a regular presenter on BBC Radio Scotland since the 1970s, and has presented a variety of programmes, including Macaulay and Co, Macaulay's People, and Macaulay's Music. He has also presented a number of television programmes, including the BBC's Scotland's Music and Scotland's People. Macaulay has been awarded an MBE for his services to broadcasting, and was inducted into the Radio Academy Hall of Fame in 2011.
