Fred West was an English serial killer who committed at least 12 murders between 1967 and 1987 in Gloucestershire, England. He was convicted of 10 murders in 1995 and hanged himself in prison in 1995. West was born in Much Marcle, Herefordshire, England, UK. He was the eldest of five children born to Walter Stephen West and Daisy Hannah Hill. He had a troubled childhood, and was expelled from school at the age of 15. West began his criminal career in the early 1960s, when he was convicted of theft and burglary. He later moved to Gloucestershire, where he met his future wife, Rosemary Letts. The couple had eight children together, and West began to abuse them. In 1967, West and Letts began to murder young women and bury their bodies in the cellar of their home. The victims included West's own daughter, Heather, and his stepdaughter, Charmaine. West was arrested in 1994 and charged with 12 murders. He was convicted of 10 of the murders and sentenced to life imprisonment. He committed suicide in prison in 1995. Fred West's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
