He is also the founder of Ruffner Investment Company, a venture capital firm. Ruffner was born in Akron, Ohio, and attended the University of Akron, where he earned a degree in business administration. After college, he worked in the real estate industry in Akron and Cleveland, Ohio. In the late 1950s, he founded Ruffner Real Estate, which has since become one of the largest real estate development and investment firms in the Midwest. Ruffner has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities, including the establishment of the Ruffner Foundation, which provides grants to organizations that promote education, health, and social services. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the University of Akron. Ruffner is married to his wife, Mary, and has three children. He is 88 years old.
