After college, he worked as an accountant for a real estate firm before starting his own real estate development company in 1989. Barnett has since become one of the most successful real estate developers in New York City. He has developed numerous high-profile projects, including the International Gem Tower in Midtown Manhattan, the Rushmore condominiums in the Upper West Side, and the Ariel East and West condominiums in the Upper East Side.
