Geoff Muldaur is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his work with the Jim Kweskin Jug Band in the 1960s and his solo albums in the 1970s. He has also collaborated with many other artists, including Paul Butterfield, Bonnie Raitt, and Eric Clapton. Muldaur was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Pelham, New York. He began playing guitar at the age of nine and was influenced by blues, folk, and jazz. He attended the University of Connecticut, where he studied music and theater. In the early 1960s, Muldaur joined the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, which was popular in the folk revival scene. He left the band in 1965 and moved to California, where he worked as a session musician and producer. He released his first solo album, Sleepy Man Blues, in 1968. In the 1970s, Muldaur released several solo albums, including Is Having a Wonderful Time (1974) and The Secret Handshake (1976). He also collaborated with Bonnie Raitt on her album Home Plate (1975). In the 1980s, Muldaur moved to Woodstock, New York, and continued to record and perform. He released several albums, including Texas Sheiks (1985) and Pottery Pie (1988). In the 1990s, Muldaur released several albums, including Private Astronomy (1993) and Password (1998). He also collaborated with Paul Butterfield on his album Put It in Your Ear (1995). Muldaur continues to record and perform. He has released several albums, including Geoff Muldaur & the Texas Sheiks (2009) and The Secret Handshake (2012). He has also collaborated with many other artists, including Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, and Taj Mahal.
