Georgi Bliznashki is a Bulgarian politician and lawyer who served as the Minister of Justice from 2013 to 2014. He was born on 4 October 1956 in Skravena, Bulgaria. He graduated from the University of Sofia with a degree in law in 1979. Bliznashki began his political career in the early 1990s, when he was elected to the National Assembly of Bulgaria. He served as a member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party from 1991 to 1997. In 1997, he was appointed as the Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Ivan Kostov. He held this position until 2001. In 2013, Bliznashki was appointed as the Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski. He held this position until 2014. Bliznashki is currently a member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and is a member of the National Assembly of Bulgaria. He is also a member of the European Parliament.
