German Moreno was a Filipino actor, comedian, television host, and talent manager. He was known as the "Master Showman" of Philippine show business. He was the founder of the variety show "That's Entertainment" and the talent manager of many of the Philippines' most popular stars. Born in Santa Cruz, Manila, Moreno began his career as a radio announcer in the 1950s. He then moved to television, hosting variety shows such as "Student Canteen" and "Discorama". He also hosted the long-running noontime show "Lunch Date". In the 1980s, Moreno founded the variety show "That's Entertainment", which launched the careers of many of the Philippines' most popular stars, including Sharon Cuneta, Gary Valenciano, and Pops Fernandez. Moreno was also the talent manager of many of these stars. Moreno was awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit in 2004 for his contributions to Philippine show business. He died in 2016 at the age of 82.
