Ghulam Nabi Firaq is an Iraqi poet and writer. He was born on 15 July 1927 in Baghdad, Iraq. He is one of the most prominent figures in modern Iraqi literature. He is known for his lyrical and romantic poetry, which often deals with themes of love, loss, and nostalgia. Firaq studied at the University of Baghdad, where he earned a degree in Arabic literature. He then went on to teach at the university for several years. He also served as a cultural attaché in the Iraqi Embassy in London from 1965 to 1967. Firaq has published several collections of poetry, including "The Garden of the Heart" (1962), "The Night of the Soul" (1966), and "The Fire of the Rose" (1970). He has also written several plays and essays. Firaq has received numerous awards for his work, including the Iraqi National Prize for Literature in 1975 and the Order of Merit from the Iraqi government in 1985.
