Godfrey Tangu Bayon is a Ghanaian politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2005. He was born in Accra, Ghana, and attended the University of Ghana, Legon, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of London. Bayon began his career in the Ghanaian diplomatic service in 1982, serving in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was appointed as the Ghanaian Ambassador to the United States in 1997, and served in that capacity until 2001. In 2001, he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until 2005. Bayon is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. Bayon is married to Mrs. Comfort Tangu Bayon, and they have three children.
