Graeme Bell was an Australian jazz pianist and composer. He was born in Richmond, Victoria, Australia, on 7 September 1914. He was a self-taught musician, and began playing professionally in the 1930s. He was a member of the Graeme Bell All Stars, which was one of the first jazz bands to tour Australia. He was also a founding member of the Australian Jazz Orchestra. Bell was a prolific composer, and wrote over 500 compositions. He was also a noted arranger, and wrote arrangements for many of the jazz standards of the day. He was a major influence on the development of jazz in Australia, and was awarded an Order of Australia in 1989 for his services to music. Graeme Bell died on 28 April, 2012, at the age of 97. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. His net worth at the time of his death is unknown.
