Greg Barton is an American sprint kayaker who was born on December 2, 1959 in American. He is a four-time Olympic medalist, having won two gold medals and two silver medals in the sport. He is also a three-time world champion and a two-time Pan American champion. Barton began kayaking at the age of 12 and went on to become one of the most successful kayakers in history. He won his first Olympic medal in 1984, a silver in the K-1 500m event. He followed this up with a gold medal in the K-1 500m event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He also won a silver medal in the K-2 500m event at the 1992 Summer Olympics and a gold medal in the K-2 500m event at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Barton has also won three world championships, in the K-1 500m event in 1985, 1987, and 1989. He also won two Pan American championships, in the K-1 500m event in 1987 and 1989. Barton is currently the head coach of the US National Kayak Team. He is also a member of the International Olympic Committee and the US Olympic Committee.
