Greg Whitby is an Australian educator and activist. He is the Executive Director of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta, and the former Deputy Director-General of Schools for the New South Wales Department of Education and Training. He is a passionate advocate for the use of technology in education, and has been a leader in the development of innovative learning environments. Whitby was born in Sydney in 1952. He attended St. Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, and graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts in 1975. He then completed a Master of Education at the University of New England in 1985. Whitby began his career as a teacher in 1976, and has since held a variety of roles in the education sector. He was the Principal of St. Mary's Catholic Primary School, North Sydney, from 1988 to 1994, and the Principal of St. Patrick's College, Strathfield, from 1994 to 2000. He was appointed Deputy Director-General of Schools for the New South Wales Department of Education and Training in 2000, and held this position until his retirement in 2011. Since 2011, Whitby has been the Executive Director of Schools for the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation. Whitby is a passionate advocate for the use of technology in education, and has been a leader in the development of innovative learning environments. He has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences and events, and has written extensively on the use of technology in education.

Whitby started his career as a teacher in 1974, serving in a variety of school leadership positions before taking up his current role as Executive Director of Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta. Whitby moved out of the classroom and into an administrative role in 1985 as the Assistant to the Principal at Patrician Brothers College, then becoming the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta for a period of four years.
