Gregg Stafford is an American jazz trumpeter, singer, and bandleader. He is best known for his work with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which he has been a member of since the early 1980s. He has also performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Harry Connick Jr., and Dr. John. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Stafford began playing trumpet at the age of nine. He attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, where he studied with Ellis Marsalis and Alvin Batiste. After graduating, he joined the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in 1981. Since then, Stafford has toured the world with the band, performing at festivals and concerts. He has also released several solo albums, including "Gregg Stafford and the Jazz Hounds" (1995), "The Gregg Stafford Quartet" (1998), and "Gregg Stafford and the New Orleans All-Stars" (2001). In addition to his musical career, Stafford is also an accomplished visual artist. He has exhibited his work in galleries in New Orleans, New York, and Los Angeles.
