He was a popular singer in the 1950s and 1960s, and he was known for his unique style of singing. He was also an actor, appearing in several films and television series. Bithikotsis was a prolific composer, writing over 500 songs. He wrote songs for many famous Greek singers, including Nana Mouskouri, Marinella, and Stelios Kazantzidis. He also wrote the music for the popular Greek film "The Red Lanterns" (1962). Bithikotsis was married to the actress and singer Eleni Zafeiriou, with whom he had two children.
