Guilherme Boulos is a Brazilian political activist and leader of the Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST). He is a prominent figure in the Brazilian left-wing and is a member of the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL). Boulos was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on 19 June 1982. He studied at the University of São Paulo, where he obtained a degree in Social Sciences. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in Political Science at the same university. Boulos has been involved in social movements since his teenage years. He was a member of the Free Pass Movement, which fought for free public transport in São Paulo. He was also a member of the Landless Workers' Movement (MST) and the Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST). In 2011, Boulos was elected as the leader of the MTST. Under his leadership, the movement has grown to become one of the largest social movements in Brazil. The MTST has organized numerous protests and occupations of public and private land in order to demand housing rights for the homeless. Boulos has also been involved in the Brazilian left-wing political scene. He was a candidate for the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL) in the 2018 Brazilian presidential election. He received 1.3% of the vote, coming in fourth place. Boulos is married to journalist and activist Luciana Genro. They have two children.

2017

On 17 January 2017, Boulos was arrested on charges of committing judicial disobedience and incitement to violence during the repossession lawsuit of a land in the district of São Mateus. In the night of the same day, he was released from prison. In his defense, he claims that his detention was arbitrary and for political reasons.

2006

Guilherme Boulos is the son of Marcos Boulos, professor of Medicine at the University of São Paulo. He graduated in philosophy in 2006 and received a master's degree in mental health in 2017, both from the University of São Paulo. In his youth and formative years he engaged in the Union of Communist Youth. He also joined the Homeless Workers' Movement in 2002.

2003

He became famous in 2003 when he participated in the coordination of the invasion of a Volkswagen's ground in São Bernardo do Campo. He appeared again in the press in 2014, in the wake of the social mobilizations around the World Cup, especially the invasion called Occupation People's Cup (Portuguese: Ocupação Copa do Povo), organized by the MTST in early May.
