Haji Mastan was an Indian gangster and smuggler who later became a film producer and real estate businessman. He was born in Panaikulam, a small village in Tamil Nadu, India. He was the son of a poor farmer. At the age of 18, he moved to Mumbai and started working as a coolie at the docks. He soon became involved in smuggling activities and rose to become one of the most powerful gangsters in the city. He was known for his generosity and was respected by the people of Mumbai. Haji Mastan was 68 years old when he died on 9 April 1994. He was 5 feet 8 inches tall and had a muscular build. Haji Mastan was married to his first wife, Mehmooda Begum, in 1947. He had two sons, Sultan Mirza and Haji Mastan Mirza, and two daughters, Noorjahan and Shabnam. Haji Mastan was involved in the film industry and produced several films in the 1970s and 1980s.
