Hanad Zakaria Warsame is a Somali politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Somalia from October 2000 to October 2001. He was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, and attended the Somali National University, where he graduated with a degree in economics. He began his political career in the late 1970s, when he was appointed as the Minister of Finance in the government of Siad Barre. He later served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1989 to 1991. After the fall of the Barre regime, Warsame served as the Somali Ambassador to the United Nations from 1992 to 1995. In 2000, Warsame was appointed as the Prime Minister of Somalia, a position he held until October 2001. During his tenure, he worked to restore peace and stability in the country. He also worked to improve the economy and to promote democracy and human rights. In recent years, Warsame has served as the Chairman of the Somali National Reconciliation and Development Council, a position he held from 2004 to 2006.
