1994

Hans Rotenberry is a singer/songwriter from the East Tennessee town, Kingsport. He formed the pop/rock band, The Shazam in 1994, in Nashville, Tennessee with Scott Ballew and Mick Wilson. Rotenberry had begun recording with producer Brad Jones at Alex The Great studio in Berry Hill, TN and the band formed as a result of the demo sessions.

Originally called "Shazam," the band made their live debut in 1994. Their first release was on cassette only. Entitled Shake 500, the collection was essentially the first ten songs that Rotenberry and his newly formed band demoed with Jones. A homemade project, the cassette covers were never consistent in appearance or quality and the tapes were mostly dubbed at Rotenberry's apartment.
