Hans Wiegel is a Dutch politician and former actor. He was born on 16 July 1941 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands. He is best known for his role as the leader of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) from 1971 to 1982. Wiegel studied law at the University of Amsterdam and worked as an actor in the 1960s. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1967 and became leader of the VVD in 1971. He was Minister of the Interior from 1971 to 1973 and Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1973 to 1977. Wiegel retired from politics in 1982 and returned to acting. He has since appeared in several films and television series. He is also a successful businessman and has served on the boards of several companies.
