Harry Mathews is an American actor who has appeared in numerous films and television shows. He is best known for his roles in the films The Godfather Part II (1974), The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), and The French Connection (1971). Mathews was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA on February 14, 1930. He attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City and later studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Mathews began his career in the theater, appearing in productions of The Glass Menagerie, The Crucible, and The Seagull. He made his film debut in The French Connection in 1971. He went on to appear in films such as The Godfather Part II (1974), The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), and The Boys from Brazil (1978). Mathews has also appeared in numerous television shows, including Kojak, The Rockford Files, and Law & Order. He has also appeared in the television movies The Executioner's Song (1982) and The Burning Bed (1984). Mathews is married to actress and singer, Joanna Kerns. They have two children.
