Heiner Will is a former German track and field athlete who specialized in the throwing events. He was born on 22 October, 1926 in Möglin, Germany. He competed in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw. Will won the gold medal in the shot put at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. He also won the silver medal in the discus throw at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. Will was a three-time European champion in the shot put, winning the title in 1950, 1954, and 1958. He also won the European title in the discus throw in 1954. Will was a six-time German champion in the shot put, winning the title in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1954, and 1958. He also won the German title in the discus throw in 1954. Will retired from competition in 1959. He died on 28 April, 2020 at the age of 93.
