Henry Valen was a Norwegian politician who served as the Minister of Fisheries from 1971 to 1972. He was born in Hadsel, Norway, on 20 May 1924. He was educated at the University of Oslo, where he earned a degree in law in 1950. Valen began his political career in the 1950s, when he was elected to the Hadsel municipal council. He was later elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1965, representing the Labour Party. He served in the Parliament until 1973. Valen was appointed Minister of Fisheries in 1971, and served in that position until 1972. He was also a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1972 to 1978. Valen died on 28 April 2008, at the age of 83. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters. At the time of his death, Valen had an estimated net worth of $1 million. He earned his wealth through his career in politics and his investments.
