Hisashi Mizugami is a Japanese skier who was born on 9 July, 1925 in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan. He is one of the most successful skiers in Japan, having won numerous medals in the Olympics and World Championships. He is also the first Japanese skier to win a gold medal in the Winter Olympics. Mizugami began skiing at the age of five and was soon competing in local races. He went on to compete in the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where he won a bronze medal in the men's downhill event. He also competed in the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway, where he won a silver medal in the men's downhill event. Mizugami continued to compete in international competitions throughout his career, winning numerous medals in the World Championships and other international events. He retired from competitive skiing in 1965. Mizugami is now 98 years old and is still active in the skiing community. He is a member of the International Ski Federation and is a frequent guest at ski events. He is also a member of the Japanese Ski Association.
