Hossein Sheikholeslam is an Iranian politician who has served in various capacities in the Iranian government since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. He is currently the advisor to the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani. Sheikholeslam was born on 29 November 1952 in Isfahan, Iran. He studied at the University of Tehran, where he received a degree in political science. He then went on to pursue a master's degree in international relations from the University of Tehran. Sheikholeslam has held various positions in the Iranian government since the 1979 Iranian Revolution. He was the Iranian ambassador to Syria from 1981 to 1985, and then served as the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon from 1985 to 1989. He was also the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations from 1989 to 1997. In addition to his diplomatic roles, Sheikholeslam has also served as the head of the Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization from 1997 to 2005. He was also the head of the Iranian National Security Council from 2005 to 2009. Sheikholeslam is currently the advisor to the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani. He is also a member of the Expediency Council, a body of senior Iranian officials that advises the Supreme Leader of Iran.
