Ibrahim Abiriga was born on 5 June 1956 in Arua, Uganda. He was a member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and served as the Member of Parliament for Arua Municipality from 2011 until his death in 2018. Abiriga was a former soldier in the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF). He was also a businessman and owned several businesses in Arua. Abiriga was known for his flamboyant lifestyle and his love of the colour yellow. He was often seen wearing yellow shirts and trousers and driving a yellow car. Abiriga was married to Zaituni Abiriga and had four children. Abiriga was assassinated on 8 June 2018 in Kawanda, Wakiso District, Uganda. He was shot dead by unknown assailants while driving his yellow car.
