His momentum did not stop there. The Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Art graduate made his European debut at the renowned Reggae Geel Festival in Belgium in August, a massive feat for a singer without a major label. Taking his guitar to the stage, Allen gave an enthralling performance to thousands of patrons, many of whom rocked to every string and note of his guitar and soulful voice. Regardless of where he is in the world, St James is never far away from his mind, which birthed the introspective single The West. Co-produced by Allen and JTwist, the track zooms in on societal ills and crime that haunt his home parish. The music video for the west was premiered on one of the popular Jamaica TV shows OnStage with "Winford Williams" as well have 17 other countries through a partnership with Caribvision.tv. The West was later included on Indies 2019 mixtape as a bonus track. His projects aside, Allen is also featured on Natural Nigh Music 2019 album on the electrifying lover rock reggae with a blues-influenced track title "I know you love me"
In 2019Far from one-dimensional, the quintessential Indie Allen has released his first mixtape titled Indie Me Name Mixtape in February 2019. The project has laced the genres of reggae, dancehall, hip hop and RnB throughout the mixtape, as he takes music enthusiasts on a journey with pit stops at spirituality, relationships, industry plight, financial hardship and tenacity.
His first official release titled Catch a Fire was released in February 2018, with a music video that premiered on Reggaeville.com. Following the release of his single, Indie was included and highlighted in the Irie Magazine 2018 issue during Reggae Month. He was also among the artiste lineup for the Kingston Reggae month celebration were performed at Jaria (Jamaica Reggae Music Association) Reggae Wednesdays, under the theme “Know Yuh Future”. A night featuring some of the most talented young artists such as Keznamdi, Koro Fyah, Lila Ike, Tamo J and veterans such as Mr Vegas and Richie Spice. His momentum didn't stop there; indie went on to be featured with Club One new release, A Canadian TV series consisting of musical performances and exclusive interviews, where musicians showcase their latest projects and discuss their songwriting process. While Indie Allen Performed in Trinidad and Canada the series was being broadcast by Fibe TV1 in Canada, and Flow 1 in the Caribbean. In a recent interview Indie Stated " The music I produce now are more than just songs. I now understand my purpose as a musician, being a singer/songwriter and what it means to be a vessel with a message".
In 2017 Indie Performed at Reggae Love Fest at Hard Rock Cafe, sharing the stage with Reggae Icon Freddie McGregor, The Voice S5 winner Tessanne Chin, Reggae sensation Romain Virgo and Jahmiel. Being the only performer without a band, Indie Allen gave such an electrifying acoustic performance which resulted in his plane ticket being extended, creating the opportunity for the artist to be featured at Full Sails University Orland's leading University for Music majors.
In 2016, after leaving the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Indie teamed up with producers JTwist and Nicholas Groskopf, releasing his first studio project an EP title 'Indie moment'. The project encapsulate a blend of international sound such and Pop/ Alternative and Afrobeat complemented with the sweet sound of reggae. The EP includes tracks such as Jamaica, Lion Pride, Cave of Hearts and I’ve Been Waiting. His EP CDs were sold out over the course of 6 months at various shows and events.The quality of Indie Allen songwriting skills has proven that he could be a global figure for Reggae Music. Indie continued to widen his horizons by writing for other artists within his network and contributing to writing songs and playing the lead role in Forbidden Fruit a musical surrounding the love story of two college students from two different socioeconomic backgrounds directed by Michael Holgate.
Indie Allen later went under the mentorship of prolific songwriter and producer Mikey Bennett of Grafton studio in 2016. During this time Indie found further direction and inspiration on his journey to grow his brand value while growing closer to his Rastafarian faith.
In 2011, after moving to Kingston, Indie Allen kickstart his professional music career by entering the Digicel Rising Stars. A popular local talent show aimed at unearthing Jamaica's finest musical artists aired Television Jamaica (TVJ). Indie Allen who went by the stage name Dominic Young at the time claimed fourth place out of $9,000 Jamaicans. Shortly after he started the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, where he met Cardo Knox, who is now the lead on his management team. In 2012 Indie performed in front thousands of patrons at the Digicel All island Carnival in Old Marina in Port Antonio Portland. He then worked with the owner of the Old Marina, businessman Morris Smith who worked on few unreleased tracks with the Artist. Indie later made his first appearance at Reggae Wednesday, performing his originals; I am Legend and Dream at the Emancipation Park.
