Inge Simonsen is a Norwegian long-distance runner who was born on 1 July, 1953 in Norway. She is best known for her success in the marathon, having won the Oslo Marathon in 1979 and the London Marathon in 1980. She also competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, finishing in 11th place in the women's marathon. Simonsen began her running career in the late 1970s, competing in the Oslo Marathon in 1979 and winning the event. She then went on to win the London Marathon in 1980, becoming the first Norwegian woman to do so. She also competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, finishing in 11th place in the women's marathon. Simonsen has since retired from competitive running, but continues to be involved in the sport as a coach and mentor. She is currently the head coach of the Norwegian national women's marathon team.
