Ion Ciontoloi is a Moldovan politician who has served in various positions in the Moldovan government since the early 1990s. He was born on 7 July 1958 in Ermoclia, Moldova. Ciontoloi graduated from the State University of Moldova in 1981 with a degree in economics. He then worked as an economist in the Ministry of Finance from 1981 to 1990. In 1990, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance and in 1991 he was appointed Minister of Finance. In 1994, Ciontoloi was appointed Prime Minister of Moldova, a position he held until 1997. He then served as Minister of Economy and Reform from 1997 to 1998. From 1998 to 2001, he was the Minister of Economy and Trade. In 2001, Ciontoloi was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Trade. He held this position until 2009. From 2009 to 2011, he was the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure. Ciontoloi is currently a member of the Parliament of Moldova and is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova. As of 2021, Ion Ciontoloi's net worth is estimated to be around $1 million.
