Isaac Wuaku was born in Peki, Ghana, on 29 December 1926. He was the son of a cocoa farmer and a teacher. He attended the University of Ghana, Legon, where he studied mathematics and physics. After graduating, he worked as a teacher and later as a lecturer at the University of Ghana. In the 1950s, Isaac Wuaku began working as a research scientist at the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission. He was instrumental in the development of Ghana's first nuclear reactor, which was completed in 1965. He also worked on the development of Ghana's first nuclear power plant, which was completed in 1972. Isaac Wuaku was a prominent figure in the Ghanaian scientific community and was awarded the Order of the Star of Ghana in 1975. He was also a member of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences. Isaac Wuaku passed away on 15 April 2021 at the age of 94.
