Ivan Sekyra was a Czech musician and composer. He was born on 1 October 1952 in Prague, Czechia. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Sekyra was a member of the Czechoslovakian rock band The Plastic People of the Universe, and was a founding member of the band's successor, the Czech band Psí vojáci. He was also a member of the jazz-rock band Jazz Q, and collaborated with the Czech singer Karel Kryl. Sekyra composed music for several films, including the Czechoslovakian film The Ear (1970) and the Czech film The Firemen's Ball (1967). He also composed music for the Czechoslovakian television series The Little Mermaid (1975). Sekyra died on 28 April 2012 in Prague, Czechia, at the age of 60.
