Voskuil studied at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a journalist for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. He wrote several novels, including The Dinner Club, which was adapted into a film in 2006. He also wrote several non-fiction books, including a biography of Dutch Prime Minister Joop den Uyl.
