Jack Klugman was an American actor, director, and writer. He was best known for his roles in the television series The Odd Couple, Quincy, M.E., and The Twilight Zone. He was also known for his roles in the films 12 Angry Men, Days of Wine and Roses, and Goodbye, Columbus. Klugman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 27, 1922. He attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology, where he studied acting. After graduating, he moved to New York City and began his career on the stage. Klugman made his film debut in 1950 in the film The Man with the Golden Arm. He went on to appear in numerous films, including 12 Angry Men, Days of Wine and Roses, and Goodbye, Columbus. Klugman's most famous role was as Oscar Madison in the television series The Odd Couple, which ran from 1970 to 1975. He also starred in the television series Quincy, M.E., which ran from 1976 to 1983. Klugman was married twice, first to actress Brett Somers from 1953 to 1974, and then to Peggy Crosby from 1983 until his death in 2012. He had three children. Klugman died on December 24, 2012, at the age of 90. He was survived by his wife, Peggy, and his three children.
