Jaime Piqueras is a Peruvian vaulter who was born on 8 January, 1927 in Lima, Peru. He is best known for his achievements in the sport of pole vaulting, having won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1955 and the silver medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Piqueras began his career as a vaulter in the early 1950s, competing in the Pan American Games in 1955 and winning the gold medal. He then went on to compete in the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, where he won the silver medal. Piqueras continued to compete in the sport of pole vaulting until the late 1960s, when he retired from the sport. He is now 96 years old and is still living in Lima, Peru. Throughout his career, Piqueras has been recognized for his achievements in the sport of pole vaulting. He was inducted into the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame in 2011, and was also awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Peru in 2012.
