James Kendis was an American composer, arranger, and songwriter. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and began his career as a pianist in vaudeville. He wrote and arranged music for many Broadway shows, including "The Passing Show of 1914" and "The Passing Show of 1915". He also wrote the music for the popular song "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Kendis was a prolific composer, writing over 500 songs, including "Let Me Call You Sweetheart", "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", "My Wild Irish Rose", and "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling". He also wrote the music for the popular song "Let Me Call You Sweetheart". Kendis was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970. He died in New York City on April 15, 1945. At the time of his death, Kendis had an estimated net worth of $1 million.
