James Sykes is a former Canadian Football League running back who played for the Edmonton Eskimos from 1977 to 1984. He was born on November 7, 1954 in New Waverly, Texas, United States. Sykes was a two-time Grey Cup champion, winning in 1978 and 1979. He was also a two-time CFL All-Star, in 1979 and 1980. He was the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian in 1979. Sykes was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2000. He is also a member of the Edmonton Eskimos Wall of Honour.
