Jamie Salé is a Canadian figure skater and Olympic gold medalist. She is best known for her pairs skating partnership with David Pelletier. Salé and Pelletier won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. Salé was born in Calgary, Alberta, and began skating at the age of four. She competed in singles skating until she was twelve, when she switched to pairs skating. She teamed up with Jason Turner in 1991, and the pair won the Canadian junior title in 1993. In 1995, Salé teamed up with David Pelletier. The pair won the Canadian title in 1998 and 1999, and the World title in 2001. At the 2002 Winter Olympics, Salé and Pelletier were controversially awarded the silver medal, behind the Russian pair of Elena Berezhnaya and Anton Sikharulidze. Following a judging scandal, the International Skating Union awarded a second gold medal to Salé and Pelletier. Salé and Pelletier retired from competitive skating in 2003. They have since toured with Stars on Ice and performed in various ice shows. Salé has also appeared in television shows and films, and has done some stunt work.
