She attended the High School of Performing Arts and the Juilliard School. She began her career on the stage, appearing in productions of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Wiz. Hubert has been married twice, first to actor James Farentino from 1983 to 1985, and then to director/producer Rodney Saulsberry from 1989 to 1992.
