Janice Scroggins is an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. She is best known for her work in the gospel, jazz, and blues genres. She has released several albums, including her debut album, "The Gospel According to Janice Scroggins" (1995). Scroggins was born in Idabel, Oklahoma, and grew up in a musical family. She began playing the piano at the age of five and was soon performing in churches and at local events. She attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she studied music and earned a degree in music education. Scroggins has performed with a variety of artists, including Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and B.B. King. She has also performed at the White House and the Kennedy Center. In addition to her solo career, she has also been a member of the gospel group, The Gospel Music Workshop of America. Scroggins has been nominated for several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album in 1996.
